For this graphic, I created vector images of a cactus and a snake in a desert. I created the cactus using 4 rounded rectangles and 4 round circles. I used the Union command to combine the paths that form the cactus. To create the snake, I used an oval ellipse for the head and 9 rectangles for the body. To combine those paths, I used the Join command, which makes the snake look like it has stripes.

I added a blur effect and a drop shadow effect to the snake, and an inner shadow effect to the cactus. I added a glow effect to the sun, which I created using the ellipse tool.
